Lost in a Moment is the fifth installment in Mrs. James’s Trials of Fear series, but it’s titled as book 4 as Fearless was written as a companion book to the series.Nicky James is without a doubt my favourite author. Her writing is beautiful and her storytelling is amazing. She writes about topics that are near and dear to her heart with the hopes of enlightening her readers about mental health.Throughout her Trials of Fear series, she introduces us to some not-so-known phobias.This book had me at the edge of my seat from the very beginning as we watch Grayson battle with Chronophobia (a fear of time or passage of time).As with all of Mrs. James’s books, she takes us on a rollercoaster ride with our emotions and when I pick up one of her books to read I know that I’m in for the ride of my life. Lost in a Moment did not disappoint!Lost in a Moment ticks a few boxes for me.Best friends to lovers (tick) and GFY (big tick).If you’re following her Trials of Fear series, or if you want a MM romance with a lot of heart and story that wrings the emotion out of you, then Lost in a Moment is definitely the book for you.Note: All the books in Trials of Fear are standalone, so you can one-click with confidence if you haven’t read previous books.
I've read each of the Trials of Fear books so far, and I've loved each one. This one has made me angry, cry, laugh and smile. It has been such an awesome story. I love the friends to lovers trope, especially the unrequited love part. This book has definitely not disappointed with that trope. It was wonderful!
This is by far my favorite of the series.I'm a sucker for the friends to lovers trope. Take best friends to lovers, and I'm yours. Like always, Nicky creates such a unique plot that really separates her books. This follows Grayson, a man who is afraid of the passing of time. At first, I was curious to see what this actually meant and how Nicky was going to show it. But the way his phobia develops and form was really interesting to see.Grayson and Beckett were adorable. Grayson has been harboring feelings for Grayson for a while. When Grayson moves in with Beckett after his accident, he finds his feeling deepening even more. Beckett has always considered himself straight. But when Grayson moves in, he starts to see him in a new way. I thought their relationship developed really naturally. I also respected the fact that even though they were in love, it did not magically cure Grayson's phobias.This is one of my favorites series right now. Each book is so unique! The next book will be based on a phobia of food and I can't wait to read it!
This is the first book in this series I have read. Since all of the books are standalone I took a chance and I'm really glad I did. I have seen many recommendations for Nicky James any time the sub-genre is related to main characters with mental illness. This is the first time I have seen a book that studies human phobias. I am always on the look out for books that showcase a character's struggles with illness. I am thrilled with the amount of time and research that the author used to accurately portray the symptoms of the illness as well as demonstration on being a supportive partner to someone with an illness. This book has the friends to lovers trope, pining, illness, angst and a happy ending so there is something for everyone. I really enjoyed reading this book and will need to go back and read the other books in the series.
Nicky James, you owe me a box of tissues! This beautiful, powerful, heartbreaking yet hopeful, raw, intense, poignant, grab-you-by-the-feels, shred your heart, stomp on the pieces, then put them back together, fantastic, emotionally charged, filled with cheers, fears, jeers and tears, gritty, gripping, slow burning, awesome, and unique twist on the traditional friends-to-lovers trope had me bawling like a baby, wanting to hug Grayson, and wanting to smack some sense into Beckett! I DEFINITELY recommend one clicking this entire marvelous masterpiece of a series ASAP!!
This is only my second Nicky James book but it certainly won't be the last. There were times I had to stop reading this book because I had some high-stress things going on and Nicky's storytelling racheted up the tension even more. This friends-to-lovers, gay-for-you romance is not for the faint of heart. I love that nothing comes easy, that there's no smoothing things over to get along, it's all-out raw feelings. If you're a fan of psychological drama with broken characters, this book is for you. *I received an arc of this book*
Nicky James' Lost in a Moment (Trials of Fear #4/KU) is live and it was EXCELLENT! After holding my breath from word one, I can finally breathe and stop pressing on my heart!! A beautifully written, friends to lovers, GFY, heart aching read with a hard fought HEA. The epilogue made me so very happy as well!!! I will say I am a bit freaked out by the clocks in my house now!! LOL I have survived my second Nicky James book....WOOHOO!!! Each book in the series is a standalone.
This story gave me plenty of emotions. Nicky did an amazing job making you feel as though you lived every happy and heartbreaking moment with Beckett and Gray. She walked you through exactly what Gray suffered along with Beckett as he tried so desperately to help. Mental illness is a serious issue and it's outlined in this book just how important support and therapy are in beating it! I can't say enough good things about Beckett and his support. What a beautiful love story the two of them shared through good and amazingly hard times. As always Nicky, beautiful work!
