About the Author
Reann Lydick Poray has worked as a historical and genealogy librarian for 21 years. She holds a bachelor of arts in history from Taylor University and a master’s of library science from Indiana University. She has loved local and family history since childhood, when she listened to stories from her grandparents and great-aunts and uncles; it has been said that she was born in the wrong era! Most of the photographs in this book are from the Guilford Township Historical Collection at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library, which has been collecting donated photographs since 1968.

This little book is about my home town. I still live there. There were pictures in it of some of my family members, which was why I wanted this book. It's a lovely little book. Well put together. Good pictures. Lots of information. That's where I ran into problems. The information on my father and sister was completely incorrect. I don't know where the author got her information, but she missed the mark on, at least, one picture. Which made me wonder how much of the other information in the book is correct.
I grew up in Plainfield in the '70s, and I loved seeing what the town looked like throughout its history. The pix of places and things that were gone before my time, but that I had heard about, was especially nice. Well worth the money.

It was a fine book. I am very familiar with the Arcadia books, having written one on Alpine County, California myself.
Reann Poray presents another wonderful "Images of America" book by Arcadia Publishing. As a librarian/historian at Plainfield-Guilford Twp. Public Library, Reann intimately knows Plainfield's (and Hendricks County's) history, and this book presents delightful images with insightful captions that will inform and entertain. Reann's expertise in local history shines through each page. It is a pleasure to peruse.
Not so much review of the book.I am sure the book is great. Amazon just won't let you see it. Do yourslef a favor and click on oh say table of contents to check the "inside" out. Then go shopping, have lunch, take a nap or even move. Amazon will be there "loading..." when you ever get back.
