I probably got this for my husband who is fascinated by planets. I received this book in exchange of an honest review
There's some beautiful images in this very short book. We were checking this book out for a friend's son who has just recently been getting more interested in space. We liked that each planet had an interesting blurb, with the exception of the somewhat meager one for Mars. Since the given description of the solar system highlighted the importance of moons and because in our experience the question is almost always asked, it would've been nice if the number of moons for each planet was stated instead of only sometimes sharing this info (for example!e there was no mention of Jupiter's moons). Also when we shared this book, we were asked if dwarf planets could have moons, what was the definition of an asteroid and if ours was the only solar system. All of this information could be briefly touched on without making the book significantly longer. I received this at a free or discounted rate in exchange for my honest review. I teach a special education science class. Even though I teach in a high school, the ability level of my class ranges from 3-5 grade. I thought this would be a good addition to my curriculum. I got this for free in return for a review, but let me say, I'm not sure that I would pay a dollar for this. It's only 17 pages long and it's mostly pictures. Don't get me wrong, the pictures in the e-book are gorgeous! However, the information was either too vague or too high for even my student's abilities and there wasn't much explanation of any of the content words or their interactions with each other. This e-book could easily be 3-4 times as long. There are so many better pieces of information that they could add to each planet.Personally, I think that the Moon and asteroid belt should come between Earth and Mars. This would make much more sense reading about it in this order if a student is studying the order of the celestial bodies in our solar system. I could use this as the very bare bones of a PowerPoint and beef it up to the point where it'd be unrecognizable. I received this product at a discount in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. I am a mother of 3 children ages 9, 5 and 3). During the summer when my two oldest children are out of school I attempt to provide educational activities and books to keep the learning process going during the summer. I decided to get Let's Explore the Solar System (Planets): Planets Book for Kids (Children's Astronomy & Space Books) mainly because it was a free book that could be read on a tablet. I personally read this book and found that it has suitable educational information for a 1st - 3rd grade age. However, I believe this book would be better suited for a 1st or 2nd grader. The information is a little basic and I believe it will not be quite as interesting for a 3rd grader but will still provide a learning experience. The content of the book is direct and to the point and this book has a educational layout without anything extra. It does a great job at providing the basic information as described in the description of the item. It will definitely help your child learn the different solar system. The photographs included in this book are vibrant and attractive. The one thing I did not like was the writing in yellow. It made it difficult to focus on the words without causing a distraction.
