She is the host of The Green Workshop, an event for women on the subject of envy that is held at local churches. Seeing Green – Don’t Let Envy Color Your Joy by Tilly Dillehay caught my eye just by the title. Growing up, we moved around a lot and after I married my husband and we had our four children, he went active duty in the military our family moved a lot as well. I knew this book was one I had to read, and I have to say it did not disappoint.he author does an excellent job of allowing for conviction while also providing ideas on how to overcome the envy factor. As I read the book, I found myself being able to visualize myself in the situation being described while be ready to hear how to overcome this monster.I was delighted and impressed by this book and if given the opportunity to read something else by her or to be able to meet her in person would be incredible.While I love the idea that our first response should be joy, I know it is not always the way I want to react. When I read the title of the last chapter, “Happiness Is the Best Revenge?â€, I found myself agreeing with the author. I am the youngest of two and never felt I measured up to the talents and gifts my older sister had been given. But as the years progressed I realized, she squandered those gifts in many ways. I, on the other hand, found God’s blessings and love in my marriage and our three sons and a daughter. So truly, happiness is the best revenge in a lot of ways in my eyes.

This was an enlightening bible study book. It would work well for a group bible study because there are questions at the end of each chapter to recap and encourage conversation.The author explains the difference between jealousy and envy. I never thought of myself as an envious person, but when I learned what the bible has to say about envy I realized I was struggling with it. The author also points out how raging against inequality is a form of envy. After reading this book I can understand the selfish aspect of feelings I did not previously realize were envious.I have read many Bible study books on joy and being content. However, this book listed seven sources of envy and explained how they can be stealing your joy. This was a unique point of view in comparison to other books I have read. Excellent book- relateable, non-patronizing, convicting, encouraging, wise words. Though the book really is about envy, and it seems so many of the author’s insights came from her real life struggle with envy, I worry the title could limit the audience. In a vice list, envy would be near the bottom of mine (still on the list!), but this book is about so much more. It’s about glory. And since it is our chief end to glorify God and enjoy him forever, it is good to spend some time in the nitty gritty of what that means both vertically and horizontally. I came away with plenty to repent of and much encouragement. The church today lives in the smog of egalitarian everything. She needs more teaching on how to love God’s plan that includes disequity, not just tolerate it or worse deny it. There is so much joy and glory to God when the whole body is healthy and happy for each of its members. Tilly exudes that joy. Read the book!
Tilly is a refreshingly awesome voice to a struggle we've battled since times immemorial. For those with a genuine desire to be liberated from this green monster Envy (who discern and acknowledge this 'stumbling block' in true pursuit of God) this book is truly anointed with a Biblically sound basis, with a fresh perspective on our contemporary situations. Situations and emotions never varied since Genesis, just the settings are different today... Her voice and penmanship lend this matter complete relevance to the our present day state of heart as well. Guard your heart with diligence for out of it springs forth issues of life. It takes courage to be so candidly open, and descriptive about one's own journey in overpowering this first 'vice' of fallen angels and man.As a diligent reader of theology and various Christian authors, this is still the first time that I've got myself to post a review. For such has been my breakthrough by just 2 chapters down. Waiting for many more gems to unfurl page after page.Found so many all encompassing answers to my personal struggle already, and will hopefully one day thank Tilly in person :)More power to your pen girl..
