Nice book, the artist has some real variation in quality of the work though. The landscapes are quite strong and seem to capture the brooding power of the North-East coast of Scotland. Kind-a like a smaller more colorful Anselm Kiefer without the German angst. Eardley was using straw and grass materials in the work first. The first third of the book deals with her children paintings, which frankly, I find pretty uninteresting. Good text and biography plus good clear photos of the work of a sadly, unfamiliar artist. I used the book to show my college art students a different way to interpret the landscapes they were painting.
Very nice book. Large reproductions, (relative to the size of the book), a good mix of her subject matter, and some interesting reading without the usual long essays of critical blather that I'm not into reading. As a working artist, I like to SEE the art.
Very quick shipping and a great book. The condition of the book was perfect and the photos of Eardley's paintings are clear and colorful. Very happy with my purchase.
